The 7th Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka His Excellency Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who was sworn into office on the 18th of November 2019, is a distinguished alumnus of Ananda College.It is the first time in the recorded history of Sri Lanka that an Old Anandian has been elected to this prestigious position.

President of the Old Boys’ Association Dushmantha Karannagoda, Deputy President Bimal Wijesinghe, Past President Thilak Karunaratne, Past President of Old Anandians’ Sports Club Ranjith Pandithage, and several members of the Old Boys’ Association accompanied by the Principal of Ananda College Mr. S. M. Keerthirathna, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, in marking the significance of this juncture and to congratulate the newly appointed Executive President. Another renowned Old Anandian, Hon. Minister of Education Dallus Alahapperuma was also present at the occasion.
