On the 7th of February President Gotabaya Rajapaksha graced the opening ceremony of the first ever seven story school building in the island, dubbed Sath Mahala, and declared it open for the students of Ananda College.

With its construction commencing on the 1st of January 2015 under  the patronage of the then Minister of  Education Bandula Gunawardane, this state-of-the-art facility equipped with 44 classrooms, an IT lab, a science lab, a medical centre and aesthetic rooms, commanded a total investment of Rs.620 million.

Along with the President, the opening ceremony was graced by distinguished alumni of Ananda college including Fleet Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda, Former Minister Arjuna Ranathunga, Former Speaker of the Parliament Karu Jayasuriya and other special guests who were welcomed with much honour and gusto by all Anandians.
