19 Jun ‘Let’s protect our protectors’: Old Anandians’ group of 2004 donates Air conditioner units and PA systems to Kalubowila Hospital
Under the project title ‘Let’s Protect our Protectors’ (අනඳ සුව මෙහෙවර) Old Anandians’ Group of 2004 donated 10 air conditioner units and 3 public addressing systems to Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila on `19th June 2021.
By donating the air conditioners the Group expects to improve the quality of life and also to avoid dehydration due to excessive sweating of doctors and nursing staff who are working wearing personnel protective gear for extended hours in the high dependency unit in the Teaching Hospital. Further, the public addressing system units are expected to be used by the hospital staff to communicate with patients to minimize exposure. The total cost of the project was Rs. 1.3 million.
The air conditioners and the PA systems were handed over to Dr. Pradeep Wijesinghe, Actg. Director of Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila on 19th June 2021. The Executive President of Ananda College Old Boys’ Association Mr. Bimal Wijayasinghe, Vice President Mr. Yasas Ariyarathne were also present in this event. ACOBA Executive President Mr. Bimal Wijayasinghe mentioned that the safety of the medical staff is of paramount importance right now and it was indeed an honor for Ananda College to have contributed for such a worthy cause.
