03 Jun Nagoda Hospital receives Medical Equipment and Personal Products from Old Anandians’ 81 Group
Taking supporting the healthcare sector in the prevailing national issue related to Covid-19 as an obligation, the Old Anandians’ Class of 81 initiated a project to donate medical and equipment worth of Rs 500,000 and 6 oxygen cylinders to the Covid-19 Treatment Center of Kalutara Nagoda General Hospital.
The equipment, sourced with support from the Group members and the fellow countrymen, were handed over to Dr. Asela Gunawardana, Director General of Health Services of Kalutara Nagoda General Hospital on 25th May 2021. Dr. D.C Rajapaksa Senior Consultant Surgeon of Kalutara Hospital, who is a proud old Anandian of the 81 Group was also present at the event.
As it was enlightened at this event that the hospital is facing difficulties in treating Covid patients with breathing issues and complications, the Old Anandians’ 81 Group unanimously decided to extend the humanitarian project to provide one or Two High Flow Nasal Cannula Ventilators for the Hospital.
Within 10 days the Group was able to collect Rs. 1.35 million, which was the financial requirement for one ventilator machine. The Group handed over the unit to Deputy Director of Kalutara Nagoda Base Hospital Dr. N. K. C. Gunaratne and to Senior Surgeon Consultant Dr. D.C. Rajapaksa at her office on 3rd June 2021.
The Group is committed to supply the second High Flow Nasal Cannula Ventilator machine and much progress has been made as of now.
